Target Audience: Third-year students preparing for campus placements

1. Introduction (10 minutes) 

Welcome students and introduce the session.

2. Understanding the Placement Process (15 minutes)

Objective: Familiarize students with the placement process and expectations.

Activities:

Explain the typical stages of the placement process:

Discuss the importance of each stage.

Share examples of common mistakes students make during placements.

  • Pre-placement talks (PPTs)
  • Aptitude tests
  • Group discussions (GDs)
  • Technical  interviews 
  • HR  interviews 

3. Self-Assessment and Goal Setting (20 minutes)

Objective: Help students identify their strengths, weaknesses, and career goals.

Activities:

Conduct a quick self-assessment exercise:

  • Ask students to list their top 3 strengths and 1 area for improvement.
  • Discuss the importance of aligning career goals with company profiles.
  • Provide tips on researching companies and roles.

4. Key Skills for Placements (20 minutes)

Objective: Highlight essential skills and how to develop them.

Activities:

Discuss the following skills: Share examples of how these skills are assessed during placements.

Communication skills (verbal and written) LSRW

Technical skills (role-specific)

Problem-solving and critical thinking

Teamwork and leadership

Provide actionable tips for improving these skills.

5. Mock Interview and Feedback (20 minutes)

Objective: Simulate a real placement scenario and provide constructive feedback.

Activities:

Conduct a short mock interview with a volunteer student.

Ask common HR and technical questions.

Provide feedback on the student’s performance, focusing on:

  • Body language
  • Clarity of responses
  • Confidence
  • Encourage peer feedback and discussion.

6. Handling Rejection and Staying Motivated (10 minutes)

Objective: Prepare students to handle setbacks and stay positive.

Activities:

Discuss the reality of rejection in the placement process.

Share strategies for staying motivated:

Maintaining a growth mindset

7. Q&A and Closing (10 minutes)

Objective: Address student queries and summarize key takeaways.

Activities:

Open the floor for questions.

Summarize the key points covered in the session.

Share additional resources (e.g., websites, books, or practice platforms).

End with an encouraging note and wish students success in their placements.
